Having been around since early 2012, the Toyota 86 is one of the oldest sports cars on the market and some would say it’s in dire need of a replacement. Although we have yet to see spy shots of the second generation, we at least know straight from the horse’s mouth that a new car is being developed and it will once again have a sister model in the Subaru BRZ. Now, a new report published by Autocar attempts to shed some light on the dynamic duo, which is expected to switch from a Subaru platform to Toyota’s TNGA.
According to Allcarnews, the 86 will finally move on from its current 2.0-litre naturally aspirated boxer four-cylinder unit, as per a leak from a recent Toyota dealer conference.
While the sports car will allegedly remain rear-wheel drive, it will shift to a new platform and get an improved interior
The 86 will also supposedly be renamed 86 GR to fall in line with the rest of Toyota’s emerging Gazoo Racing high-performance model line-up, including the Yaris GR hot hatch and Supra GR sports car.
What is fresh, though, is Allcarnews claiming the 86 GR’s turbo-petrol engine will produce 190kW (255hp) of power – an output consistent with the 2.4-litre boxer four-cylinder unit suggested by Autocar. Peak torque wasn’t quoted by either report, but expect it to be around the 370Nm mark.
This engine will reportedly be sourced from Subaru, which has publicly confirmed it will once again co-develop its BRZ sports car with Toyota
As such, expect the new model to also be powered by a 190kW 2.4-litre turbo-petrol boxer four-cylinder unit, which currently does service in the Libertysedan and OutbackSUV in some markets.
For reference, the existing 86 and BRZ twins develop up to 152kW at 7000rpm and 212Nm from 6400-6800rpm from their 2.0-litre naturally aspirated boxer four-cylinder engine.
Fifth-generation Civic Type R – Hardcore hot hatch due next year. Its Fast & Really Fast.
Honda says the Limited Edition was “developed with track performance as its core focus” and that he new Civic Type R “has been designed and engineered to be the most dynamic front wheel drive hatchback available”.
The New Civic Type R Powered by 2.0 Liter Turbo-Petrol 4-Cylinder Engine That gives Enormous output Power of 228KW (306 HP)/400NM To the Front wheel coupled with a Six-Speed Manual Gear Box .
Two trim levels are offered, with the base Type R including 20-inch BBS alloy wheels, adaptive damping and Honda’s signature red bucket seats. The better equipped Type R GT adds front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging.
Honda reduced the car’s weight from the standard Type R with BBS forged aluminum wheels that save 18 pounds (8.1 kilograms) and removed sound deadening, the rear heater ducts to save an additional 28 pounds (12.7 kilograms)
The New Civic Type R also has a low-profile rear spoiler that gives the car a more mature look than the existing big wing’s boy-racer exuberance. The Triple-outlet exhaust plays a major role in liberating the extra peak power and broader spread of torque from Honda’s 2.0-liter turbo engine.
The Civic’s combination of fuel efficiency, reliability, and enthusiastic driving dynamics has helped it achieve long-lasting success around the world.
Toyota’s Turbo Charged GR C-HR Sport Set from 2023 Launch. High-riding hot hatch with 257 horsepower and all-wheel drive.
As per Source from Toyota, that the C-HR would be the next car, after the Yaris, to undergo a GR transformation, but the new model won’t launch until 2023.
The High performance C-HR would use a de-tuned version of Toyota’s turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine that’s in the GR Yaris. It makes 257 horsepower (192 kilowatts) in Europe and 268 hp (200 kW) in Japan.
Expect that power to be distributed through a manual or by an automatic gearbox, and sent to all four wheels via the same AWD system as the Yaris GR.
The GR C-HR crossover will continue to be based on Toyota’s TNGA underpinnings, which should form a good basis for a performance SUV with a handful of upgrades. These include a body-kit with ‘GR Sport’ badging.
The platform features multi-link suspension, Larger and Lighter Diamond-cut alloy wheels and Updated brakes, a stainless steel “dress-up” muffler set with quad tips, a center brace for improved rigidity, a sports steering wheel lifted from the 86 sports car, adjustments to the suspension and steering for more focused handling, along with sports seats in cloth/suede combination trim.
Some enhancements are also be made to the interior to help it all match. The steering wheel will have a “GR”-labelled item, with silver contrast stitching, sports front seats, alloy pedals, and dark grey trim highlights for the dash and center console. It’s a subtle makeover but certainly unique over the regular C-HR.
The head and tail lights have also been redesigned – the former now comes with LED lighting as standard, and higher grades get projector units that combine the daytime running lights and sequential indicators into a single “eyebrow” graphic. On these range-topping models, the tail lights also feature blocky graphics and are joined together by a new gloss black spoiler.
The Toyota Supra has been one of the most eagerly anticipated revivals of a manufacturer’s nameplate in recent memory.
A car that’s been seven years in gestation. 21 years since the badge last appeared.
Underneath the Supra shares a platform with the latest BMW Z4. Common to both the Supra and Z4 is BMW’s turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine, a BMW interior and a ZF Sachs automatic transmission. But that’s where the similarities end.
Now, there are two types of turbocharged 2.0-liter engines depending on which market you’re looking at. There’s one that’s 194 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque and one that is tuned to a higher 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
All Supra models come with an eight-speed automatic and are offered only with rear-wheel drive. Much of the Toyota’s interior is shared with the Z4, so those familiar with BMW switch-gear and infotainment controls will feel right at home. The standard touchscreen infotainment system features a 6.5-inch display, but a larger 8.8-inch display with navigation and Apple CarPlay capability is available. A 12-speaker JBL audio system is optional on the base Supra and standard on the Premium and Launch Edition models. All of them come with a black leather interior.
From its futuristic, aerodynamic exterior styling to its luxurious, comfortable and quiet interior, we designed every aspect of Mirai to be as innovative as our fuel cell technology.
“Mirai” means “the future” in Japanese, and Toyota’s Mirai is as futuristic a car as any on the road – or the drawing board – today.
The vehicle runs on hydrogen, a fuel extracted from water, and does so efficiently and without the noxious emissions or irksome noises of the internal combustion engines found in traditional vehicles
Powerful, reliable and long-range hydrogen power. That it can go from zero to 50 mph in 9.4 seconds, but with 152 HP it is more than adequate to meet the needs and expectations of the majority of drivers
Zero emissions. The only byproduct of a hydrogen fuel cell is water – or steam. The Mirai is a full zero-emission vehicle. It is also a uniquely quiet vehicle, as its engine is nearly silent
Power-out socket. The Mirai is unique because, unlike electric cars or hybrids which require recharging, the Mirai can be a source of power. The fuel cell produces direct current (DC) but also converts it to alternating current (AC).
Kobe Motor Company present you the brief update on GMC’s Electric Hummer Super Truck with 1000 Horse Power and touts a 0-60 mph of just 3 seconds.
The Hummer will also have a strikingly high 11,500 pound-feet of torque. Torque is a measure of raw pulling power. Which will be revealed on May 20th 2020 and its due out in late 2021.
SUVs and pickup trucks have increasingly dominated in the decade since the Hummer was discontinued.
The original Hummer brand was controversial because of the poor fuel economy and imposing appearance of the enormous lane-filling Hummer H1 and the large Hummer H2. While the new Hummer EV will burn no gasoline at all, it will retain the aggressive appearance of its predecessors.
